Abstract
This research aims at identifying the socio-economic impacts on
beneficiaries of some projects financed by the Local Development Fund, and
recognizing the tendency of the non beneficiaries at the same area. in
addition to that, it discovers the common problems in such projects to
propose alternative solutions for the side of the beneficiaries.
it was applied in 4 villages in Gharbiya Governorate with a sample size
of 200 studied farmers (100 beneficiaries from the Local DevelOpment Fund
and another 100 of non beneficiaries' category). A questionnaire was
designed for collecting the primary data during the period of October and
November 2005. The analysis process has dependent on using statistical
analysis of means, percentages, and T test.
The main criteria of the economic impact were represented by: the
increase of family income, the save tendency, the degree of decreasing the
unemployment level in the family, the increase of having electric appliances.
Furthermore, the main criteria of the social impact were represented by: the
degree of participation in devel0ping projects, the degree of leisure time
utilization, social status, the exposition to the various mass media, the loyalty
to local society, and personnel ambition of the projects beneficiaries.
The results showed that there are negative tendencies of the majority
of non beneficiaries to the projects financed by the Local Development Fund.
Moreover, the research identified the common problems of these projects
which are: decrease of the credit line approval, long chain procedures for
getting the proposed credit, the exaggeration of credit guarantees (collateral),
the raise of the loan installment, difficulty of the product marketing, and lack
of training on managing project.
This research recommends various activities to overcome the said
problems which can be determined as follow: increase the credit value, raise
the grace period, simplify the credit procedures, organize training programs
on managing project for youth. and create effeaive marketing channels for
the small project products. -
