Abstract
The main objectives of this research were to :
1- Diagnosis the present situation of the extension policy and strategy.
2- Identify the present situation of the applied extension approaches.
3- Estimate the present situation of the extension work sustainability.
4- Determine the necessary requirements which the Big system needs to
succeed in achieving its goals in the new land.
5- Determine significant oflhe differences between respondents opinions
related to the previous four objectives in the two studied govemorates .
Data were collected by personal interviews using a prepard
questionnaire in May 2005 from a random sample amounted to 160
respondents represented about 30% of the total population (534) in kafr EL-
Shiekh and EI-Dakahlia Govemorates.T- test.variance and SD Were used to
analyze data statistically in addition to mean and weighted mean,frequiencies
and percntages.
The main findings of this research were as follows:
First : Non-existence of cleamess of the extenssion policy and strategy
which applied in the new land,this positon due to:
1- Non-exsitance of cleamess and realization extension objectives, low
perception of the extention role. weakness of the supportive legislation
and laws opinlons of the majority of the reSpondents.
2- Limited fields of the extension work with the majority of respondents in the
studied area.
Second : Non-existence of cleamess of extension approaches which applied
in the new Iand.this position ls due to:

1- Several approaches were applied,the most applied approaches were :the
genera extension approach and TV system approach .
2- Absence of three main extension employment categories i.e.,: extension
advisors, S.M.S and extension supervision at all livels.
3- Absence of many criteria of programs preparation and evaluation
objectively.
4- Lake of training chances for the extension workers, the farmers leaders
and The graduates. .
Third: Difficulty of sustainability in the extension work.this is because:
1- Instability of the extension organization.
2- Absence of developing extension fields and specialities.
3- Clear weakness of the effectiveness of the extension organizations .
4- Feeling the majority of worker'respondents with dissatisfaction on their
jobs.
Fourttimited success of the macro system of the extension work because
absence of essential requirements in the extension organization .
Fifth :There was no significant differences between respondents related to
their diagnosing of the present situation of the following: The extension policy
and strategy. extension approaches and essential requirements which the
macro system needs to succeed in achieving its duties in the new land. The
respondents were not in commlete agreement concerning sustainability of the
extension work in the new land.
Sixth: The main strenth points in the extension macro system were as
 
follows:
 
1- Existing a quite good numbers of employees to select some of them to
devol0p the extension work in the future .
2- Good confidence in the govemomental extension on the part of the
respondents.
Seventh: The main weak points in the macro system were as follows :
1- Absence of several of the principles and bases of the organization and
management which Should be followed in the structures of extension
work.
2- Most of the extension workers are not qualified or trained to work as
extension advisors.
