Abstract
The study aims basically at constructing and testing a causal model of some
determinants of resident's voiuntarv participation in five protects for protection and
improvement of environment in two villages. The proposted model included five
endogenous variables which are: level of openion leadership, degree ot environmental
awareness, degree of availability of sources of environmental information, level of the
village's development. and degree of voluntary participation in the environmentat
projects, and three exogenous variables which are' sex, economic status, and
educational status Empirical data used in the study were collected from a random
sample composed of 326 heads of novsehotcs In two villages in EI-Beh:ra
governorate Path analysis used in testillg Ihe proposed model
The findings provided an emp.ricat evidence on the validity of the proposed
model Decomcosuion of the total effects on the degree of oartic.oanon in
environmental pragects by 1I1E; seven independent variables ind.cateo that all
variables. did have direct and indireci effects on degree of res-dents participation In
the environmental prcjects. Based upon the study findings a number of implications
related to voluntary participation in vi/tage's environmental crorecuoo projects were
presented and discussed.
