Abstract

The research objective is to study the main feature of poultry sector in
Egypt and determine the factors affecting poultry consumption, the study tried
to specify the optimal scale of production per parlour of farms in Egypt based
on a sample survey conducted in 2004 analysis revealed the second size
(5000 - 10000 chick.s) as the most efficiency as rendering net revenue per
10000 chicks approaching 227.5 % , 141.3 % of the corresponding estimates
for the first size (less than 5000 chick.s) and the third size more than 10000
chick.s respectively
Production elasticity estimates proved the performance of the first size
farms as the first economic stage indicating the possibility of raising efficiency
for these farms by more intensive use of cnicxs and feed stuff. In general, the
second and third size were found optimum. the producer can achieve more
profits when they increase number of chicks, quantity of feed stuff, Farm
labor number, they reach equality between value of marginal production and
input price.
