Abstract
This study aimed at determine the relative importance of fish
extension problems from the prospective of the research workers themselves
at each of the different groups of the following studied fish extension
problems: Problems related to natural fisheries, Problems related to fish
culture in ponds, Problems related to fish culture in rice fields, and problems
concerning workers in research extension groups.
The present study aimed also at recognize to what extent the
different groups aggregate among themselves concerning fish extension
problems and the sub main problems included at each group of problems and
finally determining the priorities of fish problems extension at the level of sub
main problems.
The present study was carried out on random sample of 60 of the
workers in fish culture extension representing 66.6% of all the workers in
extension groups at the central laboratory for Aqua culture research,
Abbassa, Sharkia. Data collected through personal interview by using
questionnaire and determining 32 probable problems which primary
determined through specific review and previous studies. Simple correlation
factor used to analyze the obtained data statistical tools.
The most important results obtained from the present study were:
1- The problem of the shortage of the infrastructure in transportation and
storage with the degree of (5.00) and the environmental pollution of seas
and internal lakes (4.9 degree) were considered the most important
problems related to the natural fisheries. Concerning the problems that
related to fish culture in ponds, the shortage of fry needed for ponds
culture (4.92) occupied the head of the list. While the shortage of fry
needed for culturing wide areas of rice field (5.00 degree) considered the
most important problem related to culture in rice fields. Unclear fish
extension concept was the most important problems related to the
workers of fish culture research extension groups.
2- The presence of high consistence among the different sub main problems
included in different groups, were it ranged between 0.52 and 0.72,
correlation among different which indicates to what extent the relative
important of different sub main problems identified, and also for the
different groups of fish culture extension and indicates also the correct
classification of that different groups.
