Abstract
The research is aimed mainly to make a full job description for the
agricultural extension Subject Matter Specialists (SMS) regarding: its
organizational dependency , management level ,academic education, job
ladder promotions, types of required training, and duties related tasks.
The research population consisted of two groups of experts :
academic experts who have Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension and work in
different agricultural extension departments of Agricultural Faculties •
Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Research Institute. executives
experts working in the Central Administration For Agricultural Extension
Services and its department, in venues governorates.
Data were collected by personal interviewing using a questionnaire
from a random sample amounting to 120 respondents: 70 respondents from
academic experts , 50 respondents executives experts . Frequencies and
percentages, means, standard deviation, T-test, and Chi-Square were used
to analyze data.
The study results revealed that the majority of respondents agreed
on the following:
1- Consideration of management district "agricultural management's· as the
basic level of SMS job practice.
2- Determination of job ladder as a standard of promotions concerning, job
experiences and efficiency.
3- Types of training required for the job were ranked according its
importance, as professional extension training, specialized technical
training, and administrative training.
4- The four main duties of the job are; the communication between the
research institution and extension, determine the problems which facing
farmers as a research points , participating in planning, executing and
evaluation of agricultural extension programs and training of the extension
agents.The related tasks of each duty arranged according to its
importance
The study recommended that the findings should be taken into
consideration considered when taking administrative decisions about the
SMSjob.
