Abstract
This study aimed mainly to determine the training needs of the respondents
extension field agents concerning the technical recommendations of post - harvest
processes of tomato crop and determining the relationship between the total degrees
of the training needs of the respondents extension field agents concerning the
technical recommendations of post - harvest processes of tomato crop and
independent variables. The study was conducted in some districts of EI - Behaira
governorate. This districts were selected by random method. Data were collected in
March month, 2005 by personal interview using a questionnaire from random sample
amounting to 150 respondents which representing about 30.4% of the total numbers
of the extension field agents (494), in EI-Behaira governorate.
Frequency and percentages distribution, arithmetic means standard
deviation and Person simple correlation coefficient were used as tools for statistical
analysis.
The main results of this study were as follow :-
1-80% of respondents were with average ages between (41 - 50) years and it may
increases. Also 37% of the extension field agents had experiences in agricultural
work between (20 - 27) years , Perhaps 43% of them had experiences in
agricultural extension work between (11-19) years, Also, 83% of them had number
of training days between (7 - 44) days, furthermore, the results of this study
showed that, about 57% of them had moderate degree a of job satisfaction which
were between (31- 45) degrees.
2-Also, findings showed that, level of the training needs of the respondents from the
extension field agents concerning the technical recommendations of post - harvest
processes of tomato was high in six from these processes: knowledge of picking
time, graduation it , putting it in boxes, storage it and transportation it to the markets
or the factories, while the training needs of respondents were mean in their
knowledge of signals of complete growing of tomato.
3-Findings showed too, there was significant relationship at 0.01 level between the
total degrees of the training needs of respondents - as dependent variable - and
some independent variables such as, experience in the agricultural work,
experience in the agricultural extension work and number of innovation fields in
extension.
4-Results showed that, significant relationship was at 0.05 between the dependent
variable and each of the independent variables such as, number of the information
resources, number of the training circuits number of the organizations, rate of the
communication with the organizations, suitable degree of the supervision, and
degree of job satisfaction.
5-Finally, the insignificant relationship was between another some independent
variables and dependent variable such as, Age, degree of benefit from information
resources and the wishing in innovation of the extension.
