Abstract
This study was intended to investigate the role of the private sectors
units in providing the agricultural services, dealing with the growers of
horticultural crops through paied agricultural extension, the satisfaction levels
of the unit's responsibles when dealing with growers of the horticulture crops
and the problems that units face when deanng with the growers during the
paid agricultural service.
The data were collected from the responslbles of the 100 units which
represent 25% of the private agricultural sector units authorized for selling
fertilizers in Sharkiz and Ismailia Governorates. The data were collected by
using a questionnaire designed for this purpose, through interviews, Means,
weighted means, and Chi square were the tools for analysis.
The study concluded some important points, as follows:
The agricultural private sector units provides more than one of the
services. The growers of the horticulture crops were dealed with these units
only in case of plant diseases. There was more than a way for the grower to
contact the unit to ask for advice as: going in person to the unit location. The
grower goes frequently to the units which advise him. The unit offers the
service in more than one location, most of these services offered freely to
gain the grower's trust. The units responsibles prefer that the services fees
would the services fees would be included in future with the sales' price to get
free show. Half of the units responsibles were satisfied in working with the
growers, the most important i1dication to this satisfaction is the application of
the unit's advise. Beside, the units' responsibles qualification and training and
their contacts with the governmental agricultural extension and their
satisfaction with the grower, had a significant relationship with delivering the
services. The problems which face the units from offering the paied extension
service for the growers were the low life standard of the grower, high rate of
illiteracy, the grower doesn't get used to lrnmediate payment, the small area
of the horticultures, the absence from the extension seminars, the disability of
some farmers to do the right agricultural practices, some growers
misunderstand the units' tips, fear from exploitation by the agricultural private
sector and the inconvenient package.
Some recommendations about solving the problems of offering the
agricultural extension service for growers were propos
