Abstract
The study aims at identifying the knowledge needs level of the
graduate wives regarding the recommendations of potatoes crop
production, marketing and consumption in EI-Bostan region in Nubaria area,
their food pattern of potatoes consumption , the relationship of their
knowledge need degree and some Socioeconomic variables, in addition the
needed extension services to solve the constraints which face them in the
mentioned crop three stages.
The study was conducted through a personal interview by using a .
pretested questionnaire in two villages: Mohamed Refaat, and Mohamed

of (102) respondents with 11 % percent of the graduates wives of potatoes
farmers. Data were analyzed by using coefficient of rank correlation, as well
as frequencies and percentages. The study results could be summarized as
follows:
- Regarding production stage it has been found that the average of
knowledge need degree of the respondent was 51.5% from the maximum
value of knowledge need degree for technology recommendations, 43%
Regarding the stage of pre-harvesting ,61.5% Regarding storage stage
and 50% Regarding consumption stage of the crop.
- The rate of family consumption of potatoes was; daily for 79% of the
respondents, four times in the week for 13% of them, three times every
week for 4% of them, two times every week for 2% of them and less than

- There was a significant relationship between the degree of knowledge need
of the respondents for technology recommended related to each of the
studied stage and some of the studied independent variable as follows: -
related to the production stage; there was negative relationship between
this degree and period of mirage, -related to pre-harvesting stage ; there
was negative relationship between degree of knowledge need and the total
of education years, degree of participation in development projects and
ratio of the graduates wives participation in potatoes crop production and
marketing from the total family work.- related to the storage stage there
was negative relationship between their degree and their degree of
participation in development projects - and related to the consumption
