SOME AFFECTING RURAL PEOPLES' ALIENATION IN TWO VILLAGES IN MENOUFIA GOVERNORATE.

Abstract
The research aimed at determining alienation among rural people in all alienation phases and dimensions, determining the relative contribution amount of studied independent variables in explaining the variance in all alienation phases degrees and total alienation degrees of rural people, finally identifying the most important reasons for rural people alienation in Menoufia
governorate.
The study was conducted in Menoufia governorate; data were collected through personal interview questionnaire for a random sample of 351 respondents (124 from "AI-Raheb" village and 227 from "Shoubrabas" village - Shebeen AI-Koom markaz) during January and February 2004.The following statistical methods were used: Person's simple correlation' coefficient, stepwise, chi-square, frequencies and percentages.
The study reached the following results:
Rural people feeling level was high towards the following: powerlessness, meaninglessness, normlessness, self - strang ness and total alienation
level. '!
About half of the respondents (54%) are completely liable to expatriation, (44%) reached to a high degree of culture rejection and aversion and about (42%) reached to highest alienation levels through isolation.
The most important independent variables that explain variance in alienation phases degree and total alienation degree of rural people in Menoufia governorate were: cultural cosmopolitness, education years, education average of family members, domestic sets ownership, monthly family income and age.
The most important reasons for alienation phenomena among rural people were: prices increase, low standard of living, and high unemployment percentage among rural youth, income misdistribution, increased differentiation among wealthy people, low services level, absence of rural values, family's incapability to help their sons and daughters to marry, and family decomposition.
Accordingly, the study recommended that rural stakeholders should plan appropriate programs to overcome causes of such phenomena, necessity to integrate all rural civil society organizations to face factors that increase alienation among rural people.
