Abstract
The research aimed at determining alienation among rural people in
all alienation phases and dimensions, determining the relative contribution
amount of studied independent variables in explaining the variance in all
alienation phases degrees and total alienation degrees of rural people, finally
identifying the most important reasons for rural people alienation in Menoufia
             governorate.
The study was conducted in Menoufia governorate; data were
collected through personal interview questionnaire for a random sample of
351 respondents (124 from "AI-Raheb" village and 227 from "Shoubrabas"
village - Shebeen AI-Koom markaz) during January and February 2004.The
following statistical methods were used: Person's simple correlation'
coefficient, stepwise, chi-square, frequencies and percentages.
The study reached the following results:

Rural people feeling level was high towards the following: powerlessness,
meaninglessness, normlessness, self - strang ness and total alienation

            level.                                                                                                                   '!

About half of the respondents (54%) are completely liable to expatriation,
(44%) reached to a high degree of culture rejection and aversion and
about (42%) reached to highest alienation levels through isolation.
The most important independent variables that explain variance in
alienation phases degree and total alienation degree of rural people in
Menoufia governorate were: cultural cosmopolitness, education years,
education average of family members, domestic sets ownership, monthly
family income and age.
The most important reasons for alienation phenomena among rural
people were: prices increase, low standard of living, and high
unemployment percentage among rural youth, income misdistribution,
increased differentiation among wealthy people, low services level,
absence of rural values, family's incapability to help their sons and
daughters to marry, and family decomposition.

Accordingly, the study recommended that rural stakeholders should
plan appropriate programs to overcome causes of such phenomena,
necessity to integrate all rural civil society organizations to face factors that
increase alienation among rural people.
